Blue Ridge Literacy Council Upcoming Tutor Orientation
BRLC Tutor Orientation – May 13
(Hendersonville, NC): Blue Ridge Literacy Council (BRLC) is seeking adult volunteers interested in becoming tutors and helping Henderson County adults learn or enhance their reading, writing and spoken English skills. Teaching experience or knowledge of another language is not required. There are over 50 students on our waiting list and a special need for tutors willing to work in the early evenings with students not available for daytime instruction because of work conflicts. However; you can select a schedule most appropriate for you.
Tutors are matched with students and meet twice a week for 1½ hours. Volunteer tutors must also complete a 10-hour training workshop and be at least 18 years of age.
Blue Ridge Literacy Council is a United Way funded program whose mission is dedicated to transforming lives through improved literacy and English communication skills for adult learners.
