United Way of Henderson County Organizes “Twelve Days of Caring” As a benefit for Henderson County agencies, United Way of Henderson County is expanding its annual Day of Caring (DOC) to Twelve Days of Caring. United Way will still have a community-wide Day of Caring to coincide with its annual Campaign Kick-off; however, the organization is now coordinating a monthly DOC event. “Twelve Days of Caring will focus on a particular need for just one nonprofit agency per month,” said United Way’s Director of Community Impact Sandy McGlashan. “We will recruit volunteers specifically for an agency’s one-day project.” At a time when nonprofits are maximizing their staff and other resources, United Way wanted to provide a service to help ease the burden of completing a specific project for agencies. “We are hoping that this may be advantageous for agencies in that we can schedule a group of volunteers to help with a particular project at a time when the agencies need them,” said McGlashan. United Way’s Twelve Days of Caring goals are to provide volunteer assistance to nonprofit agencies, to introduce new volunteers to the work that nonprofits accomplish in our community, and to further the understanding among in Henderson County residents of the needs our community is currently facing. In just two days, United Way registered five projects seeking volunteers. If you are interested in learning more about these specific volunteer opportunities, please contact Sandy McGlashan at 692-1636 or
