SUMMARY:City of Hendersonville Roadside Mowing Starts April 27
DESCRIPTION:The City of Hendersonville Public Works Department will be conducting roadside mowing on City streets starting April 27 and continuing until late September. Roadside vegetation management is an important part of keeping the transportation network safe and accessible. Regular mowing and trimming improves visibility of traffic signs\, preserves sightlines for motorists\, cyclists\, and pedestrians\, and helps keep sidewalks clear of overhanging limbs\, branches\, and other obstructions. \n\n“Maintaining safe and accessible streets and sidewalks requires regular attention to vegetation along our roadways\,” said Assistant City Manager – Public Services Brent Detwiler. “Our Public Works team uses side-arm mowing to efficiently manage vegetation along more than 68 miles of City streets\, helping keep sightlines open and ensuring roads\, bike lanes\, and sidewalks remain safe and accessible for everyone in our community.” \n\nBecause of the large number of roadway miles the City maintains\, side-arm mowing is the most effective and efficient method for managing roadside vegetation on a citywide basis. Property owners can play an important role by helping keep vegetation on their property trimmed back from the public right-of-way and sidewalks. \n\nFor homes adjacent to roadways\, bushes\, shrubs\, tree limbs\, and other vegetation should be kept out of the roadway and maintained approximately 1-2 feet behind the curb or edge of pavement with a recommended vertical clearance of approximately 16 feet above the road surface. \n\nFor properties with sidewalks\, owners are encouraged to keep sidewalks fully clear and accessible by trimming vegetation so that pedestrians have an unobstructed walking path. As a general guideline\, sidewalks should remain clear to a minimum height of 8 feet\, and no vegetation\, limbs\, shrubs\, or other objects should extend into the walking path. \n\nKeeping sidewalks clear is especially important to ensure safe passage for individuals using wheelchairs\, walkers\, strollers\, and other mobility devices\, and to help maintain an accessible pedestrian route for all users. \n\nProperty owners near intersections are also asked to trim vegetation and remove debris to preserve clear sightlines for motorists entering and exiting intersections. \n\nResidents’ assistance in maintaining vegetation adjacent to their property helps improve public safety\, reduce the need for side-arm mowing impacts near private landscaping\, and support accessible travel throughout the community. \n\nFor more information about the roadside mowing program\, please visit https://www.hendersonvillenc.gov/public-works or contact the City’s Public Works Department at 828-697-3084.

SUMMARY:Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra Continues this Spring with Music in the Vines Series at Marked Tree Vineyard.
DESCRIPTION:The Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra (HSO) announces \nthe latest lineup for\, “Music in the Vines” music showcase at Marked Tree Vineyard in Flat \nRock. This series will feature four diverse ensembles performing against the backdrop of the \nbeautiful rolling hills at Marked Tree. \nThe series begins Saturday May 2 nd with Trey Hensley – referred to as “Nashville’s hottest young \nplayer” by Acoustic Guitar magazine—was voted the 2023 and 2025 IBMA Guitar Player of the \nYear. Hensley received his first GRAMMY® Award at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards as a \nmember of The Taj Mahal Sextet. Hensley’s hit single Tucson is currently #3 on the IBMA \nBluegrass charts. \nThe next performance on May 15 th is the first return to the stage of The Hot Club of Asheville \nsince Hurricane Helene. The Hot Club is a collective of Asheville’s finest professional \nmusicians\, coming together with a shared love of Gypsy Jazz music. The band honors the \ntraditional Gypsy Swing in the styles of Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli from the \n1930-50’s\, while infusing the tradition with more modern qualities of jazz expression \nOur featured artist on May 29 th is guitarist David Grier. Grier’s journey to becoming one of the \ngreatest flat-pick guitarists in the world started at a young age at the feet of Bluegrass legend\, \nBill Monroe. Grier’s father Lamar Grier was a member of “Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Boys” in the \nmid-1960s. David quickly found a strong passion for guitar and began to develop what is now \nhis own world-renowned distinctive style. \nThe final concert of the series is on June 14 th and features the transatlantic folk group\, The \nForeign Landers. Rooted in bluegrass and Celtic tradition\, the Foreign Landers create their \nown sound with reflective songwriting and enchanting singing shaped by lives lived across \nborders. Led by vocalist and banjoist Tabitha Agnew Benedict of Northern Ireland and \nmandolinist David Benedict of South Carolina\, The Foreign Landers have built a reputation for \nmusic that feels deeply personal. Also featuring Nate Sabat on bass and Julian Pinelli on fiddle. \n“We are excited to continue the great music this Spring with Music in the Vines." says Paul \nConroy\, Executive Director of the HSO. To start the year we will feature four groups with \nunique styles and backgrounds. A perfect match with the Marked Tree Vineyard environment.” \n \nAll performances will be at the newly opened “Crush Pad” at Marked Tree and begin at 6:30pm. \nTickets start at $25 general admission\, and a limited number of premium reserved table seating is \nalso available. You can purchase tickets at hendersonvillesymphony.org or by calling (828)697- \n5884.
