Bullington Gardens, a horticultural education center and public garden, will hold a fundraiser, “Diggin’ It at Bold Rock Hard Cider,” benefitting its horticultural therapy program on Saturday, June 8, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bold Rock Mills River Cidery.

This family-friendly event will include bingo, face painting and cookie decorating. Hands-on botanical projects will be offered throughout the day. These craft activities feature making seed bombs of clay and wildflower seeds; creating leaf pounding designs on fabric; and designing Victorian-style floral bouquets, the “tussy mussy,” with a lesson on the language of flowers.

“Bold Rock Mills River Cidery is one of our great supporters so this is the perfect venue for our fundraiser,” says John Murphy, Director of Bullington Gardens. “Plus, as a public garden, we love partnering with this local agribusiness. It’s a natural win-win event.”

Live music by popular acoustic artists Eric Congdon and Paul McIntyre will be featured. Food trucks from Mills River Creamery Ice Cream and Bold Rock Cidery will serve up great fare. A signature cocktail incorporating Kentucky Colonel Spearmint grown at Bullington Gardens will be available, along with cider, beer and wine. Event t-shirts, bingo prizes and a raffle will be offered.

All proceeds will benefit Bullington Gardens’ horticultural therapy program of plant-based activities offered to students and adults with special needs as a means of skill development, rehabilitation and wellness.
