Discover Natural Transylvania will feature the documentary film “Code Blue: Water in the Mountains”

April 4, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Discover Natural Transylvania will feature the documentary film “Code Blue: Water in the Mountains” on Thursday, April 4 at 6:30 pm at the Transylvania County Library.

This 35-minute film by David Weintraub, Executive Director of the Center for Cultural Preservation documents the “green” value of protecting our mountain watersheds, from the ecosystems connected to our streams to the financial integrity clean and pristine waterways bring to our local economies.  Our way of life would drastically change if our source of water disappeared or was significantly affected.

A discussion and Q/A following the film will include Hartwell Carson, French Broad Riverkeeper, Mountain True; Regina Goldkuhl, Water Quality Administrator, Mountain True; and Brett Laverty, Hydrogeologist, NC Department of Environmental Quality.  Carson and Laverty were both involved with the film when it was produced and will provide insight regarding water quality, effects of development and any changes (good or bad) since the film was made nearly 10 years ago.

Light refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Library who support the Discover Natural Transylvania program series on the first Thursday of most months.  For additional information contact Marcy at 828-884-1820 or marcy.thompson@transylvaniacounty.org.
