Empty Bowls Fundraiser to Fight Student Hunger

November 25, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Hendersonville High School will be hosting “Empty Bowls” Fundraiser on Monday, November 25th at 5:30pm, to raise money for grocery gift cards for students at the high school and feeder middle and elementary schools. Meghan Bernard, local professional artist in the Southern Highlands Craft Guild spent the week of October 21-25 throwing 200 bowls on the potter’s wheel, Which high school students decorated by adding carving or adding clay to the surface, then fired and glazed. Each individual bowl will sell for $10 at the fundraising banquet, which guests which guests can fill with as much soup and bread as they can eat. Then take a bowl home to remember that not everybody’s bowl is always full. The total funds will be passed along to the county office department in charge of student assistance for homeless students where it will be distributed appropriately while maintaining those students’ privacy. We’re hoping to raise $1300 which will match the funds raised last time. We’re feeding our own community and the students get to experience the power and influence and effect art can have on a community.
