Free Quit Tobacco series starts March 26

March 26, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - April 26, 2019 @ 7:00 pm

The Department of Public Health is offering a free tobacco cessation program to anyone who would like to quit smoking, dipping, chewing or vaping. The series begins March 26 and will meet on Tuesdays for seven weeks from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at the Department of Public Health, located at 1200 Spartanburg Highway in Hendersonville.

“Any day can be a new beginning when it comes to quitting tobacco,” said Beverly Clark, health promotion coordinator. “Although it may take a number of tries before you’re able to quit for good, it can be done. In fact, so many people have quit that there are now more former smokers than current smokers in the United States.”

Trained facilitators will lead discussions to explore practical ways to reduce the urge to use tobacco, cope with friends and family who continue to use tobacco, build healthy new habits and other practical tips. Quit Day is during week four with support and additional tips to follow.

The series, a resource book and materials are free, but preregistration is required. To register or for more information, call (828) 694-6065 or email bclark@hendersoncountync.gov.

The Department of Public Health’s mission is to promote, protect and advance the health and wellness of our community. For more information about healthy living and health department services, call (828) 692-4223 or visit www.hendersoncountync.gov/health.
