The Hendersonville Swing Band invites lovers of the Big Band sound of the ’30s, ’40s, and ’50s to join them “On the Sunny Side of the Street” at 3:00 PM on April 13, 2019 at Trinity Presbyterian Church on 900 Blythe Street in Hendersonville.
Directed by trombonist/humorist Jerry Zink, the 17-piece Hendersonville Swing Band (hendersonvilleswingband.org) is a much-loved part of the Western Carolina music scene.
The concert will feature Jersey Bounce, Tuxedo Junction, Pennsylvania 6-5000, and Leap Frog, all songs popular with Big Band music fans.
Tom Donnelly, popular Asheville vocalist, will sing Henry Mancini’s beautiful Days of Wine and Roses and the up-tempo Harold Arlen tune, It’s Only a Paper Moon.
This year’s concert will benefit the Hendersonville Medical Loan Closet, a non-profit organization that provides hospital beds, patient lifts, wheelchairs, knee rollers, tub chairs, and other medical equipment at minimal cost to area residents for short-term rehabilitation and recovery.
Concert tickets at $10 are available now at the Medical Loan Closet at 1225 7th Avenue East in Hendersonville or at the door at Trinity Presbyterian Church the afternoon of the concert.
