HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS GIVING AT SAFELIGHT

December 2, 2019 @ 10:00 am - December 25, 2019 @ 4:00 pm

Safelight invites the community to a new way of giving for Safelight clients around the holidays, called “Home for the Holidays.”

A house has been set up in the Safelight Resale Store so donors can give in the impactful way they choose by placing cash, checks, or gift cards in the “room” that matches their interests. There’s a room for gifts, a room for client’s most pressing needs, and a room for basics like gas and food.

Laresa Griffin, Director of Development for Safelight, is enthusiastic about this fresh new way of helping others in need. “We are very grateful for our community’s generosity in the past with the Safelight Giving Tree. Now, Home for the Holidays focuses on empowering individuals and parents to purchase what they and their children need and what they know their kids will like.” Griffin continued, “Think of it as sharing the gift of giving. Your gift actually gives twice: to the children or adults who receive the gifts, and to the parents who are now able to experience the fun and joy of giving to their children.”

Shoppers are encouraged to visit the Safelight Resale Store on Small Business Saturday, November 30, from 10am until 4pm through Christmas Day when the home will be set up to receive gifts. While gift cards of any amount are appreciated, cards of $25 or less in value will be most helpful. Walmart and Ingle’s gift cards are best, as they are on the bus line and have everything from toys to gas.

Safelight provides hope and healing for families in Henderson County who are affected by trauma. The organization provides free and confidential help to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. Safelight’s programs and services remove barriers to getting quality help, creating a safer, healthier community. For more information, visit www.safelightfamily.org.
