Asheville, NC – National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Western Carolina and All Souls Counseling Center (ASCC) are not going to let COVID-19 prevent us from presenting the 4th Annual Mental Wellness Walk on Saturday, October 24th.
The significance of making mental health and mental wellness priorities during the current health crisis cannot be understated. The Mental Wellness Walk strives to increase awareness of the importance of mental wellness and community resources that exist for people with mental health issues and the people that care about them. One in five individuals live with a serious mental health issue…..the other four individuals are friends and loved ones who care about them. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has significantly increased the number of people showing symptoms of anxiety and depression.
“Stigma is a large barrier to addressing mental illness and increased access to care for all. NAMI Western Carolina and All Souls Counseling Center share the goals of eliminating this concern,” says Leslie McCrory, Executive Director of All Souls Counseling Center.
“All Souls Counseling Center and the National Alliance on Mental Illness Western Carolina provide valuable education and support that aid in the recovery of individuals impacted by mental health issues. Both organizations work to raise the public’s knowledge and awareness of the challenges faced daily by individuals working to manage mental illness. Challenges that can be overcome with the
help of the community and a strong support network.” advised Terri Harris, Board President of NAMI Western Carolina.
All Mental Wellness Walk funds raised directly support the work of these two non-profit organizations that provide the community with mental health counseling, support, education, and advocacy. For more information about this event, email email@example.com.
