Wild Through Their Eyes

May 1 - May 8

From May 1–8, Tryon Fine Arts Center will host Wild Through Their Eyes, a special gallery exhibit featuring artwork and poetry created by local elementary students in our Wild for Art program. Through this program, students learn about native wildlife and express those discoveries through art, building curiosity, empathy, and connection to the natural world at an early age.

The exhibit invites the community to experience wildlife through the perspective of these young artists. It is free and open to the public, and visitors are welcome to explore at their own pace throughout the week.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Champions for Wildlife on this exhibit,” says Marianne Carruth, Executive Director of Tryon Fine Arts Center. “Arts education is a big part of our mission, and seeing kids express what they’re learning about wildlife through creativity is a perfect fit. Plus, we’re a bunch of animal lovers at TFAC.”

In addition to the exhibit, two “Sip and Sculpt” events will offer adults a chance to get creative themselves. At these events, participants can enjoy a drink while creating their own wildlife sculpture, no prior experience needed.  The first will be a Wild for Box Turtles Sip & Sculpt, held at Appalachian Mountain Brewery in Mills River on May 11th, and the next one is at The Stubborn Mule in Landrum on May 19th, with the animal to be voted on via their social media.

Together, these events reflect Champions for Wildlife’s mission to create early and lasting connections to wildlife through art, while also offering the broader community simple, welcoming ways to engage, create, and connect.

The gallery exhibit is free and open to the public. Sip and Sculpt events are ticketed and require registration. More information, including event details and registration, can be found at the bottom of our website homepage www.championsforwildlife.org.
