AM 1600 History
- 1964 – WHVL signs on.
- 1977 – WHVL moves to a Top 40 format.
- 1986 – WHVL is sold to Butler Broadcasting. Mystle and Jim Butler.
- 1987 – WHVL changes to WTZQ and begins “Solid Gold” format.
- 1987 – Lake Lure is the scene for Swingfest ’87. A large scale oldies music festival held on the lake. Guest artists included the Del Vikings, Rufus and Carla Thomas and a variety of shag and beach groups.
- 1988 – By mid summer WTZQ changes to “Simply Beautiful” format.
- 1990 – WTZQ sold by Butler Broadcasting to Ralph Conner.
- 1993 – WTZQ is sold to United Broadcasting Enterprises, Inc.
- 1997 – March 10th station transferred from Glenn W. Wilcox, Sr. to J. Ardell Sink.
- 2002 – WTZQ purchased by Houston Broadcasting.
- 2008 – WTZQ purchased by Mark Media (J. Ardell Sink)
- 2014- WTZQ increases in power to 5000 Watts
- 2015 – WTZQ adds Fm translator – 95.3 FM
- 2021 – WTZQ purchased by Flat Rock Multimedia, LLC (Mark Warwick & Paige Posey)
