Anyone facing disaster-related legal challenges can call 1-828-418-6969 from 12pm – 6pm. This free, one-day hotline will assist clients with legal issues, such as FEMA claims and appeals, FEMA roads and bridges, landlord/tenant issues, insurance claims and disputes, homeowner and property issues, and more.
“The aftermath of Hurricane Helene is something this area will be dealing with for a long time to come,” said Julia Horrocks, PLS Managing Attorney. “Many of our neighbors are still overwhelmed – not only by damage to their homes and property, but also by the complicated legal problems that follow. We want people to know that they are not alone, and help is available.”
If anyone is unable to call during the hotline hours, or if they have legal needs unrelated to disaster recovery, they can apply anytime online or call PLS at 828-253-0406 or LANC at 1-866-219-5262.
“Many people in the area continue to face daunting challenges as they navigate recovery from Helene,” said Alicia Edwards, LANC Disaster Recovery Program Director. “Some of these challenges can only be solved with legal help. This hotline is one more way we’re working together to make sure Western North Carolinians have the information and assistance they need to recover and rebuild.”
