Blue Ridge Symphonic Brass Opens Fall Season At Brevard First United Methodist Church

October 26 @ 7:15 pm - 9:00 pm

The BLUE RIDGE SYMPHONIC BRASS (BRSB) opens its fall season on Sunday, October 26 at 7:15 p.m(please note time change). The concert will be held at Brevard First United Methodist Church, 325 N. Broad Street in Brevard.  The program of exciting works for brass, conducted by Cole Hairston, is free and open to the public, with donations accepted.  The general church parking lot is off  North Caldwell Street, with additional parking along Methodist Drive in front of the church.

The program will offer a variety of musical styles, including the Aragonaise from Bizet’s ever-popular Carmen,  a beautiful brass arrangement of choral composer Eric Whitacre’s  October,   Processional Fanfare by British composer Elgar Howarth, the Ragtime waltz  Pleasant Moments by Scott Joplin, and Tchesnokoff’s majestic Salvation Is Created.

The Blue Ridge Symphonic Brass, featuring instruments found in a symphony orchestra’s brass section, is dedicated to bringing the symphonic brass repertoire to music patrons in our communities. The BRSB features outstanding musicians from the Brevard, Hendersonville, Asheville and Greenville areas.  Many perform, or have performed with, professional orchestras and bands or teach at universities and schools in the region.  The ensemble’s instrumentation includes trumpets, horns, euphoniums, trombones, tubas and percussion.
