Proceeds support one of the area’s largest and oldest public botanical treasures, and its dozens of year-round educational and horticultural therapy programs.
Hendersonville’s beloved nonprofit Bullington Gardens is pleased to announce its annual Fall Plant Sale, happening from September 12-13 from 9 am–4:00 pm. This annual event is a great opportunity for gardening enthusiasts and nature lovers to stock up on a wide variety of plants perfect for fall planting. Now in its 36th year, Bullington Gardens is well known for growing unique and exceptionally healthy plants. The sale feature an impressive selection of locally grown native plants, fall perennials, shrubs, trees, and cool-season annuals—all carefully chosen to thrive in our local climate.
As Bullington Gardens Director Annie Higgins explains, “Despite last year’s hurricane devastation, we are excited to offer a wonderfully diverse selection of locally grown plants to enhance any garden. Every sale directly supports our mission and helps us continue to offer valuable educational programs and maintain this beautiful space for everyone to enjoy.” Bullington Gardens has been a cornerstone of the Hendersonville community for 36 years. With a focus on horticultural therapy and environmental education, it plays a vital role in connecting people with nature and promoting well-being through the power of plants.
Each week, fun and educational activities are offered to students in the Henderson County Public Schools Exceptional Children (EC) programs. Bullington Gardens’ trained Horticultural Therapists also work with clients at local behavioral health facilities to enhance recovery and rehabilitation, help clients build new skills, and provide opportunities for joy and creative expression. BOOST (Bullington Onsite Occupational Skills Training) is a program for sophomores in the Occupational Course of Study in all four Henderson County Public High Schools. BOOST cultivates pre-vocational skills such as time management, respectful communication, process planning, and collaboration—as students work on Bullington’s trails, gardens, and grounds. Bullington Gardens is also famous for its increasingly popular Fairy Village—a delightfully interactive and imaginative garden fantasy trail designed to engage children of all ages. The Fairy Village includes a story nook, where fairy-themed stories are read aloud to kids two mornings a week.
