Bullington Gardens ‘Pollinator Plug-Palooza” Fundraiser

May 23 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

bullington-200x200440275-1

Bullington Gardens, a staple of Western North Carolina’s horticultural community, will host its “Pollinator Plug-Palooza” on Saturday, May 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This high-impact plant sale serves as a critical fundraiser to repair the Garden’s glass greenhouse and install a modern heating system necessary for year-round
operations.  The event offers home gardeners a chance to beautify their landscapes while supporting local education. The sale features a wide selection of pollinator-friendly “plugs”—including Aster, Coneflower, and Hyssop— that establish quickly and support local bee and butterfly populations. Attendees can also shop a curated collection of Dahlia seedlings, tubers, and unique “heirloom-style” tomato varieties perfect for summer planting.

“Our greenhouse is the heart of our educational and therapeutic programs,” says Issac Wyatt, Interim Director at Bullington Gardens. “Restoring this structure is about more than just glass and heaters; it’s about ensuring we have a safe, year-round space to continue our mission of horticultural therapy and science-based education for students of all abilities.”  As a partnership between the N.C. Cooperative Extension and Henderson County Public Schools’ Bullington Gardens provide essential life-skills training and therapy for children and adults with physical and mental challenges. Every plant purchased at the Plug-Palooza directly funds the restoration of these vital facilities.
