FIND Outdoors announces tickets for the highly anticipated 2025 Blue Ghost Firefly Tour at the Cradle of Forestry in America will go on sale to the general public on April 8, 2025. This annual event offers a rare opportunity to witness the mesmerizing display of the elusive Blue Ghost Fireflies (Phausis reticulata) in their natural habitat.
Blue Ghost fireflies are a rare firefly species found in the mountains of Southern Appalachia, known for their distinctive glow and tiny size. While their glow is actually lime green, it usually appears blue because of the Purkinje effect— a visual phenomenon when colors appear different in low light.
“Every year, the Blue Ghost Firefly Tour offers visitors a magical glimpse into one of nature’s most captivating sights,” said Dallas Martin, Chief Education Officer of FIND Outdoors. “This event is not just about experiencing the beauty of the fireflies—it’s an opportunity to learn about conservation, the delicate balance of our forest ecosystems, and how we can protect these incredible species for generations to come.”
The Cradle of Forestry Blue Ghost Firefly Tours begin with an informative session at their outdoor amphitheater, where guests will have the opportunity to learn about the fascinating world of the Blue Ghost Firefly. Following the presentation, visitors will embark on a hike along a paved trail through the forest, at their own pace, where they’ll have the chance to observe these enchanting creatures up close.
