Immigration Enforcement Policy in North Carolina and Beyond

The League of Women Voters of Henderson County and El Centro of Henderson County are hosting a lunch and learn program titled “Immigration Enforcement Policy in North Carolina and Beyond” on

Tuesday, February 24 from 11:30am-1:00pm at First Congregational Church, 1735 5th Ave W, Hendersonville, NC.

Dr. Felicia Arriaga will discuss how immigration has become criminalized. Her discussion will focus on the racial, economic, and political issues that have factored into federal, state, and local policies leading to increased enforcement in immigrant communities.

Dr. Arriaga, who was born and raised in Hendersonville, is an Assistant Professor at Baruch College in New York City and author of “Behind Crimmigration: ICE, Law Enforcement, and Resistance in America.” (University of North Carolina Press, 2023).

All are invited to attend. Beverages and light refreshments will be provided.
