Tryon Little Theater’s big musical of the season, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is set in the French
Riviera. A comedy, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek and book by Jeffrey Lane, the show is
directed by Dan Harvey, with Pam McNeil as musical director, and Jody McPherson, producer.
The musical is running at the Tryon Fine Arts Center, March 12 th -15 th .
Based on the 1988 movie of the same name (starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin), we
follow the misadventures of two con artists, Lawrence Jameson and Freddy Benson. When they
realize they’re both trying to work the same turf, they decide to make a wager to determine
who gets to stay. The story twists and turns as the two con men compete to see who can
extract $50,000 from the wealthy and gorgeous Christine Colgate.
Described as a “scandalous delight”, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels has a jazzy score and is full of high
