Production/Local Artist Showcase Co-Host
Izzi Hughes is a Hendersonville, NC native who at the age of nine began playing guitar in the midst of various musical theatre and acting classes at the Flat Rock Playhouse; including roles in several of their main stage plays. Upon turning twelve, she channeled all her time and energy into music, taking private lessons in acoustic/electric guitar, voice, and piano. She also joined her music school’s Rock Band Program and for the next three years fronted a band called Calculated Error. After winning Wild Wing Café’s (Asheville, NC location) Acoustic Throwdown competition in March of 2015, Izzi began performing as a solo artist. For the last eight years, Izzi has been making the rounds in WNC’s local music scene at breweries, vineyards, restaurants, and more. In 2018, Izzi was accepted to Belmont University and graduated in 2022 with a degree in Music Business and Production. Immediately following graduation, Izzi worked as a booking agent for a St. Louis based agency helping them grow their Southeast presence. Even though Izzi loved Music City, she couldn’t stay away from the mountains for long. In 2023, Izzi moved back to the state that gave her her start, and is now is a proud co-host of WTZQ’s Local Artist Showcase and is honored to be part of the WTZQ family!
