ARTS COUNCIL OF HENDERSON COUNTY PRESENTS 59th ART ON MAIN FESTIVAL

September 29, 2018 @ 10:00 am - September 30, 2018 @ 5:00 pm

The Arts Council of Henderson County is proud to present the 59th annual Art on Main fine art/fine craft festival along Hendersonville’s historic Main Street, September 29-30, 2018.  Festival hours will be 10am–5pm both days.

One of the region’s most popular outdoor arts festivals, Art on Main will feature fine arts and fine crafts from local and regional artists, as well as many artists from states beyond the southeast region.  More than 90 artists will participate in this juried and judged festival.

This year the Art on Main committee has received applications from and accepted an unprecedented variety of fiber artists.  Fiber artists will be showing work that includes woven aluminum as presented by John Gunther.  John paints images on aluminum sheets and then weaves them together to create a new one–of-a-kind image.  Deborah Bryant’s handwoven pieces are created in her Western NC studio.  She hand paints the warps (the length) of each piece to enhance her vibrant color palette.  Patricia Spangler partners with nature to do “botanical printing”- a magical process that releases the hidden color in leaves and transfers it to fabric.  She works only with natural materials and processes to create her work.

Art on Main is presented by the Arts Council of Henderson County with major support provided by Morris Broadband. In addition, the festival is supported by the Henderson County Visitors Information Center (www.visithendersonvillenc.org), the Dr. Minor F. Watts Fund at the Community Foundation of Henderson County, the City of Hendersonville, Mast General Store, and WNCW.

A list of 2018 artists and information is available at the Arts Council’s website, www.acofhc.org.
