Blue Ridge Community College reschedules first performance of Music by the Lake concert series

All other concert times remain unchanged, presently

Due to the extension of North Carolina’s Phase II, Blue Ridge Community College has rescheduled the first concert of its summer concert series, Music by the Lake, featuring the Apple Country String Band, to Sept. 13. The new starting date for the concert series is July 26, featuring Tom Fisch.

Every summer, Blue Ridge Community College offers a free, outdoor musical concert series beside the College’s lake called Music by the Lake. While the dates have shifted occasionally, the event forges ahead.

The series normally begins in May, but was initially postponed to July 12 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While dates are subject to change, at the moment Tom Fisch will still perform on July 26, followed by Pretty Little Goat on Aug. 16, Tuxedo Junction Band on Aug. 30, the Apple Country String Band on Sept. 13 and Nick Chandler & Delivered on Sept. 27.

“While we hate postponing any event, it’s all done with consideration of our attendees,” stated event organizer M.C. Gaylord. “The musical lineup will include folk, rock, and bluegrass, so we hope you’ll join us with chairs and picnics in hand for the best free entertainment in town.”

Music by the Lake is a gift to the community that takes place from 5-7 p.m. featuring a wide range of musical and vocal groups. The public is always invited to bring lawn chairs and picnic food to enjoy at the event.

In an effort to promote safe participation, all recommended CDC measures will be followed at these events. Following Gov. Cooper’s recent order, all attendants must wear face masks. A hand sanitizer station is available inside the Patton Building, and individuals will be expected to enter through the front of the building and exit onto the lake patio to ensure proper social distancing.
