Bowl For Kids’ Sake is all online this year!

(ASHEVILLE, NC) – Bowl For Kids’ Sake, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina annual fundraiser, is moving from local bowling alleys to an all-online format this year. And for several branches in the WNC area, the online event will be their first foray into the fun and camaraderie of Bowl For Kids’ Sake.

In the new, pandemic-aware format, “bowlers” will create videos of up to 60 seconds of their teams bowling anything (except live animals and small children). For those who need help, BBBSWNC will edit their best clips.

BBBSWNC is encouraging the teams to get creative. The Asheville-based nonprofit organization and its event advisors will make awards for Most Creative, Funniest, Best Costumes, Best Teamwork and other categories.

Teams are being formed now of “bowlers” – and of supporters who want to raise money without creating the video. Teams are asked to sign up by March 1 at bbbswnc.org. Videos are due at BFKS@bbbswnc.org by March 15. County and regional awards will be announced April 8 and 21, respectively.

Businesses are encouraged to put together a team (registration is $300). Community teams for four or more people may register for $50 per person. Sponsorship opportunities resulting in regional media exposure are also available at bbbswnc.org.

Every year, BBBS branches throughout the country rely on Bowl For Kids’ Sake events for fundraising. The event is the biggest or nearly the biggest fundraiser for all BBBS branches in Western North Carolina, accounting for much of the money the organization uses to match local children with caring, professionally supported adults.
