Drive-thru End of Summer Blast
Summer is winding down, and teachers and students are preparing to start an interesting, new school year. To help celebrate the end of summer and start of school, Historic Johnson Farm will be hosting a Drive-Thru End of Summer Blast on Thursday, August 13, from 1-4 PM. Cars will drive through the parking lot and pick up packaged ice cream treats as well as a takeand-make craft for children. Volunteers will wear masks and gloves, and we ask that drivers
wear masks when picking up their treats.

While this event is free, donations will be accepted. The farm has not been able to hold their typical summer line-up of events due to the pandemic. Revenue from these events helps support the farm’s mission “to provide cultural heritage experiences and educational opportunities for school children and the community.”
Time Traveler Baskets can also be purchased and picked up at the event. These baskets are full of crafts and activities about the farm that children can do from anywhere. When a child completes all activities, they receive a certificate from the farm as well as 2 free passes to a farm event. Jr. Time Traveler Baskets are for ages 4-8, and Youth Time Traveler Baskets are for ages 9-12. Baskets are $25, and each additional basket purchased is $20. Please call the farm to reserve your basket before the End of Summer Blast so we can have it ready!

Historic Johnson Farm is located at 3346 Haywood Road, Hendersonville, NC 28791. It features 15 acres of forest, fields, and streams, 10 historic structures, animals and picnic tables. The farm was a gift to schoolchildren and the community by the late Vernon and Leander Johnson.
