Pardee UNC Health Care to Host Free Virtual Stroke Seminar and Q&A on Tuesday, May 11

 Pardee UNC Health Care will host a free virtual stroke seminar and Q&A with neurologist Joel Callahan, M.D., on Tuesday, May 11 at 6 p.m. Dr. Callahan will teach participants to BEFAST by recognizing stroke symptoms and getting help quickly. In this session, he will discuss stroke risk factors, warning signs, types of strokes, prevention and recovery. Participants will be able to ask questions in a live chat.

“Anyone can have a stroke and everyone should be prepared in case it happens to you or someone you know,” says Dr. Callahan. “Eighty percent of strokes are preventable, yet stroke is the leading cause of disability in the United States and the No. 5 cause of death.”

Seminar participants will also be eligible to receive a free, limited stroke screening on Thursday, May 20.
