The Village of Flat Rock proudly announces an ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION AT THE PARK, a new annual event hosted by Town Council and The Park at Flat Rock. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, May 1st from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Local Boy Scouts will help with the tree planting. Henderson County Forest Ranger Kristen Kelly will be on hand and the Friends of the Park at Flat Rock will have an information booth. Trees will be provided by Carolina Ace Hardware and Raymond’s Garden Center.
Tree City USA is a national recognition program that began in 1976 and is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the US Forest Service and National Association of State Foresters. The Tree City USA program provides municipalities with a framework for a healthy and sustainable urban forestry program. The Village of Flat Rock seeks Tree City USA Recognition in order to enhance the quality of our green space and thereby our overall community wellbeing.
The Arbor Day Celebration event will honor the entire community of Flat Rock and also celebrate The Park at Flat Rock’s role in providing green space for generations to come. There are plans for this annual event to “grow” in the future and will serve as a commitment to educate residents and neighbors about the importance of trees.
NC guidelines for social distancing will be followed; masks are required.
