November 1, 2019 @ 4:30 pm - 9:00 pm

New Partnerships Create Treat Street Carnival in Downtown Hendersonville

Downtown has always been a place to see and be seen on Halloween night and this year is no exception. A new partnership between the City of Hendersonville Downtown Program, the Henderson County Parks and Recreation Dept. and Hola Community Arts has led to the formation of an expanded experience for visitors to downtown on Halloween. The new event, now known as Treat Street Carnival, will include fan favorites like the costume contest with a new pet category and Sid the Surf’s DJ party, but has been expanded to feature a variety of kid friendly inflatables, a Halloween themed outdoor movie and performances in the spirit of Día de Los Muertos. The event is also ramping up the comfort level for parents by closing Main Street to vehicular traffic between 6th Avenue and Allen Street during the event.

Downtown is also excited to once again welcome Ingles Markets back as the presenting sponsor for family friendly, cute, crazy and sometimes creepy costume contest! In addition to supporting downtown’s efforts to bring this fun activity to the district, Ingles Markets is delivering on the very popular Candy Drop, a donation of over 300 pounds of candy to the merchants along Main Street who hand out a tremendous volume of treats over the course of the evening. For those of you targeting the candy, good news, the partnership with the County also means the addition of Treat Zones to the event! Supported by local businesses, the Treat Zones will be located along Main Street and supported by local businesses to add to the fun for your little ghouls and boos.

For Downtown Merchants, the Candy Drop will take place on Tuesday October 29th at 3:00 pm in the second-floor conference room of City Hall. Please bring your business card in exchange for candy. Supply is limited.

The main event itself, Trick or Treating with downtown merchants, kicks off at 5:00 pm on Thursday October 31st. Families can also join us for the Monster Mash DJ party, and the annual Halloween costume contest. Costume contest registration will be available beginning at 4:30 pm and contest judging, which includes age categories for infants to 3 yrs, 4 to 7 yrs, 8 to 11 yrs, 12 to 15 yrs, 16 plus and Family/Group Contestants, will start at 6:00 pm with the pet category first to be judged.

A big thank you for the fantastic prizes and our Treat Zone supporters, along with all the downtown merchants who participate in this annual community event!

Remember that Trick or Treating takes place along Main Street from Allen to 6th Avenue, while the costume contest and Monster Mash are located in the 100 block in front of the courthouse, between 1st and 2nd Avenues along Main Street. Inflatables will be located in the 200 and 300 block while the movie screen is being set up in the 300 block near the French Broad Restaurant. Hola Community Arts will be in the 100 south block between Allen and 1st Avenue. Official Trick or Treating begins at 5:00 pm, thanks!
