A holiday must-do for runners, walkers, and joggers of Western North Carolina, the 3rd Annual Ugly Sweater Run 5K & 10K is bringing festive back to the Riveter in Mills River, NC, on Saturday, December 3!
Presented by Hunter Subaru, the Ugly Sweater Run and its costume contest has become one of iDaph Events’ most popular events, and this year it’s part of the brand-new Holiday Hustle Running Series!
Designed to promote healthy movement and activity through the holiday season, the Holiday Hustle kicks off on Thanksgiving Day with the South Asheville Turkey Trot. The Ugly Sweater Run is the second of three races, with the New Year’s Resolution Run wrapping up the series. Participants who join us either in-person or virtually (or a combo of both) all three will get an awesome ‘Holiday Hustle’ medal on New Year’s Day!
The Ugly Sweater run features both 5K and 10K options that begin at The Riveter and run along rural paved roads and scenic farm roads in Mills River. Runners will cross the finish line at The Riveter to grab their ornament-stylized Ugly Sweater medal and enjoy even more merriment at the post-race party!
The post-race party will feature delicious food and coffee trucks, adult beverages, drinks and refreshments, an awesome DJ performing music in the race hub, and plenty of activities including a premier bike park and the nation’s premier indoor climbing gym. Participants can chill after the race and unwind with a post-race chair massage, a stretch and yoga session, or join an indoor yoga class at the Riveter’s magical yoga studio.
The Ugly Sweater Run is 19 days away, but your shot at snagging a coveted Ugly Sweater Run race shirt ends this Sunday! Be sure to register HERE and order your shirt (limited sizes left!), so you can flaunt your race all throughout the year.
On race day, participants are encouraged to dress for the occasion and join in the Costume Contest, which will have two categories. The top three Best Dressed Santas will win an awesome prize from The Riveter! Don’t have a Santa suit? Wear your UGLIEST sweater and you still have a chance to win! The BEST ugly sweater outfit for male, female, kid and group categories will also win prizes from The Riveter!: Take a photo and post it on social media, then tag @idaphevents and @riveternc and use hashtag #uglysweaterrun for a chance to win a prize provided by The Riveter on race day.

To enter the Holiday Hustle series, simply sign up for each of the South Asheville Turkey Trot (Nov. 24), the Ugly Sweater Run (Dec. 3) and New Year’s Resolution Run (Jan. 1, 2023) and you will be automatically added. Participants can race virtually or in-person, but still need to register to earn the extra bling! The deadline to register for all three races in the series to earn the medal is Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022.

Asheville Home Builders Association is an organization dedicated to the protection and promotion of our local housing industry and those who work within this market. They are known for connecting members through monthly networking and educational events, promoting professional development, hosting community outreach events and much more. iDream Athletes Foundation is a tax-exempt non-profit that provides needs-based scholarships for youth and adults of WNC who are unable to pay for sporting event fees, coaching, travel expenses, or equipment to train for and/or participate in events.
