UNITED WAY’S RISING LEADERS PROGRAM NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 2022/23

August 19, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

United Way of Henderson County will launch its 12th annual Rising Leaders program this September. The 2022-23 Rising Leaders program will be facilitated in person, with all sessions conducted in accordance with the current health and safety protocols in place.

Rising Leaders is an eight-month intensive program designed to develop the next generation of community leaders and board members for Henderson County nonprofit organizations. Participants will attend monthly information sessions covering a wide variety of topics including board member basics, fundraising, marketing, understanding nonprofit financials, as well as race, equity, and inclusion for nonprofits. This program is free to participants, thanks to generous sponsorships from WNC Bridge Foundation and Carolina Village.

“For over ten years now, we have been working to equip inspired leaders with the tools and education they need to serve as better board members in Henderson County,” said United Way Director of Community Impact, Sarah Kowalak. “Anyone who is interested in partnering with nonprofits to make a deep, meaningful impact in our community would be a great candidate for this program,” she added.

Henderson County residents interested in learning more about this opportunity are invited to attend the Rising Leaders Information Session at Dry Falls Brewery on Wednesday, July 27th from 5:30-6:30pm. Attendees will enjoy a free drink ticket and snack as they learn how to step into leadership and make a powerful difference in our local community.

Interested candidates should visit liveunitedhc.org/rising-leaders to register for the information session, view course dates, and complete an application. Attendance at the information session is not required in order to apply for the program. Applications will be accepted until August 19, 2022. Class size is limited to 20 participants.
