OVERVIEW: Care2Foster™is a program of Fostering Great Ideas® that recruits and
supports foster parents. The program was built on a need – kids enter foster care and
get placed in group homes, are separated from their siblings, and are placed in
counties away from their community. Why? Because there aren’t enough foster
families. Fostering Hope helps meet this need by targeting churches. Fostering Hope
has reached 1,250+ people and successfully recruited 100+ new foster parents in SC.
THE PROBLEM: Right now, there are 495 children in foster care in Greenville, South
Carolina and only 357 foster families. 138 foster families are needed TODAY so that
every child can live with a family in foster care.
THE SOLUTION: There are over 300 churches in Greenville, SC. That means, if 1
family from every 3 churches fostered, the need would be met.
Not everyone can foster, but everyone can do something. Care2Foster™ has teamed
up with local organizations that license foster parents including DSS, Miracle Hill,
Nightlight, SCYAP, and Thornwell to alleviate the foster care crisis in Greenville, South
Carolina. Churches have joined together from across denominations in the Christian
faith in Greenville to meet this need. Anyone from the community who wants to learn
about this need and how they can get involved is invited to attend this event. This event
is for the person who has thought about fostering or adopting from foster care “one day”
but has hesitations. Foster parents will share their stories and inspire us all.
The event will be held on Tuesday, November 19th from 6-8pm at JL Mann High
School in Greenville, South Carolina. The event is FREE, childcare is provided, and
